Pitbull, Meghan Trainor, 5 Second of Summer, more perform on ‘Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular’
We’re not going to pretend that July 4 is a robust day for big programming, but if you love Independence Day and have the spirit of patriotism in your heart, there is quite a bit to like from the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. This event aired on NBC Monday night, and what we had a chance to see are a wide array of performances from a wide array of different artists. We’re not sure that we’ll have updates on every single person who performs on the night, but we will give you a few more updates as time goes on.
Sara Bareilles – It was appropriate for the show to address the tragedy in Orlando, in addition to the sort of heartache that many have felt all over the world over the past year. Her rendition of “What the World Needs Now is Love,” a recent charity single put out by many Broadway artists, was all about love, peace, and healing.
Pitbull – Of course this show has Pitbull. Every awards show does! While he’s not our personal cup of tea, let’s not be too cynical here since this is someone who’s really tried to live the American dream and does at least get audiences pumped up with every performance.
Meghan Trainor – A fun performance, and perfect for the 4th crowd. She brings the energy, and has songs that are easy to sing along to.
5 Seconds of Summer – It seems like a brilliant move to bring these guys onto these shows. They keep young viewers engage, but sometimes will perform songs like “What I Like About You,” which are familiar to older viewers.
