‘True Blood’ musical reportedly in the works, potentially for Broadway
Sure, “True Blood” may have had one of the worst endings out of any TV show we can remember in recent memory, but didn’t it have a few great things going for it? For one, the first few seasons were absolutely insane, and over the course of its run we also had a chance to get to know performers like Alexander Skarsgard and Kristin Bauer van Straten much more than we would have known them otherwise.
Ultimately, we do think in general someone looks too much at an ending to invalidate all of the greatness that came before it. Take, for example, “How I Met Your Mother,” a really excellent show despite an ending that did leave a good bit to be desired.
What we are here to discuss right now are some of the rumors regarding “True Blood” now becoming a stage show all of a sudden, and hopefully getting an opportunity to help people better remember the good times. According to the New York Post, this is a project in the works with Nathan Barr, who produced the original music for the show, working on the score. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Scott has written some of the lyrics. Original show creator Alan Ball is involved somehow in ensuring the show’s success.
While the report states that the project still is in need of some additional work, we do have an inherent curiosity to seeing how it comes about in the end. After all, we do at least presume that this could be a lot of fun on stage if the trademark humor remains intact.
