‘Gotham’ season 3 spoilers: Meet the new Poison Ivy
Not long ago, we announced that “Gotham” was specifically giving one of its characters in Poison Ivy a big makeover, recasting the role and aging her up.
Now, we know precisely who will be playing the part. Maggie Geha has landed the role of an older Ivy, someone who TVLine claims will come into contact with a monster while at Indian Hill. They are more than likely going to use this to help explain why the character is suddenly so much older and also different in appearance than we have seen her recently.
We also cannot exactly say that the show is committing sacrilege on the comics with this character, mostly because they were never altogether faithful to the source material in the first place. This show has always drifted far from the Ivy made famous in the comics, even to the point where we’ve wondered at times if this Ivy was actually just a red herring similar to how Jerome was not actually the Joker that Batman would eventually face off against.
However, that notion is now out the window. We’re willing to give producers a little bit of slack here, mostly because it feels like they’ve earned some of that over time thanks to some of the moves that they’ve made in between the great version of Mr. Freeze and also the Hugo Strange story arc.
This is the second major casting news regarding “Gotham” this week; recently, it was confirmed that “Once Upon a Time” actress Jamie Chung was going to be cast in the role of Vicki Vale’s aunt, an intrepid reporter who could be a key player on the show.
