‘How to Get Away with Murder’ season 3: More on the Michaela – Asher relationship
At the end of “How to Get Away with Murder” season 2, we bore witness to something that may be one of the most unusual pairings over the course of the show’s history so far: Michaela and Asher. The latter’s certainly not the most likable character, but you gotta admit that there is something oddly compelling about watching him work.
Based on what executive producer Pete Nowalk said recently to TVLine, it certainly looks as though this hookup is not going to be a one-time thing, either:
“I think it’s fun. I really understand how these young people who have been living in a powder keg would grasp at each other … Michaela is going to have to deal with the fact that she just found out another guy she trusted, Caleb, was a crazy, freaking sociopath, so it makes sense to me why she might want to just choose the simple guy who’s right in front of her. In many ways, Asher is a really good boyfriend, and I think he’s probably a generous lover.”
So what sort of external factors could end up playing into this relationship? There are definitely quite a few that could make their presence felt, whether you are talking about something like another murder (hey, it happens a lot on this show), some past skeletons rising to the surface, or simply standard relationship stuff. There has to be an element of the real world that pops up in here at some point, right? We’re at least thinking that way at present.
