‘Code Black’ season 2 drops two regulars, adds one amidst shakeup

Code Black -

When CBS officially renewed “Code Black” earlier this spring, they did so with the knowledge out there that there were probably going to be a few fairly-major cast tweaks to go along with it. Now, we’re lucky enough to know of precisely what some of these are, even though it is not great news for a pair of actors.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bonnie Somerville and Raza Jaffrey will not return as results in the roles of Dr. Christa Lorenson and Dr. Neal Hudson. These two actors may have had a major role on the series, but obviously the network feels like there are some tweaks that they think could take the show in new directions. They will be casting some more characters, and to go along with that, Boris Kodjoe (Dr. Will Campbell) will be a series regular after recurring during some late season 1 episodes.

What this report also gives us is an indication that season 2 is going to be for 17 episodes, which serves as an indicator that the network is probably going to once again split time between this show and then “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.” We get what the decision was made to renew both, given that they had a fairly similar performance in terms of the ratings. It’s possible that over the course of season 2, one show will start to separate a little bit more from the other, and we’ll get a larger indication of what the long-term plans truly are.

Just be sure to stay tuned, since we’re going to give you much more news in the way of “Code Black” as soon as it comes out.
