James Corden to visit ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ during Tony Awards buildup

While everyone may love to talk about the idea of late-night wars, it’s pretty darn clear now that for James Corden and Seth Meyers, the two would rather have the concept appear to be more than a myth.

Today, it was announced that Corden, who hosts “The Late Late Show” over on CBS, will be a guest on “Late Night” on NBC Wednesday, June 8. This comes at a time in which the British comedian, who typically films in Los Angeles, will be in New York preparing for his hosting gig at the 2016 Tony Awards. This show will be broadcast on CBS come June 12, and will continue to celebrate Broadway (and will probably give a billion awards to “Hamilton” in the process).

For trivia buffs, this is not the first time that Corden has appeared on Meyers’ show, having done so prior to taking over “The Late Late Show.” Still, having these sort of crossovers happen is somewhat of a rarity, and one of the most recent examples of it happening was David Letterman appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” when the ABC show host moved to Brooklyn for a week.

Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert, who are now the stalwarts of late-night TV at NBC and CBS, have definitely shown a fondness for each other over the years, appearing on one another’s shows in interesting ways. (Back during “The Colbert Report” days, the two agreed to temporarily be “best friends.”)

We’re certainly for a more friendly late-night rivalry these days, provided of course they at least try to still have a little bit of fun with each other in the process. Nobody wants to see them go completely nice-nice at each other.
