‘The Fosters’ season 4 spoilers: First details on premiere, horrifying Mariana – Nick situation

The season 4 premiere of “The Fosters” is going to be coming your away on Freeform starting on Monday, June 20, and based on some of the first details that we have for you right now, we’ve got some further verification that this particular start to the season is going to be emotional. Very emotional. As a matter of fact, it may make you afraid for the fate of at least one character on the show.

Here’s what we can tell you right now: The title for this first episode is “Potential Energy,” and you can see the official synopsis all about what to expect below:

“Picking up where the season three cliffhanger left off, Callie admits her past relationship with Brandon to her moms. But before Stef and Lena can even process the information, the school goes into a “Code Blue” lockdown when it’s discovered Mariana’s boyfriend Nick showed up with his father’s gun after seeing her kiss her ex-boyfriend Mat.”

We’re of course hoping that this episode does not end with any death or gunfire, but we’ll have to see when it ends up airing. What is clear to us is that Nick is not well, and while he cares about Mariana, he’s channeling his anger and his hate for the situation in a horrific way. We’ve seen these characters face some pretty difficult circumstances before, but this may be one of the most difficult ones to date.
