Is ‘Empire’ season 2 new tonight? Wait begins for Taraji P. Henson series

“Empire” last week delivered a finale that was all sorts of crazy and then some. How else do you describe an hour that featured Lucious getting married to Anika of all people, only for her life to be then thrust into significant jeopardy. It’s possible that either she, Rhonda, or both of them is dead based on the events of the finale, but we’re not going to know one way or another until the third season premieres this fall.

In case you missed what we’re saying here, there is no new episode on Fox tonight. Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, and the rest of the cast are now on hiatus, and you’re going to be left waiting until September more than likely to see them back.

Structurally, this will be the same show that you remember so fondly. There’s an arc that is coming this fall, and to go along with that, one that will be coming up in the spring. In between, Fox is going to air their new series “Star,” which also is coming from executive producer Lee Daniels. There’s a lot of great stuff coming up!

As for what to do in this hiatus, you can always go back and watch some repeats; or, if you are a fan of Howard’s in particular, the second season of “Wayward Pines” starts tonight! While he’s not a series regular on the show by any means, you will have a chance to see him there at least one more time.
