‘The Real World: Go Big or Go Home’ episode 10 review: The Jenna – Dylan rollercoaster

Jenna -This is the world that we’re witnessing on “The Real World,” and probably many other reality shows with some similarity to it. Basically, you can somehow get an entire hour of television revolving around someone potentially leaving their boyfriend back home for someone who they only just met an episode ago, only to have this said guy decide that she’s really not worth it.

Of course, we’re speaking of Dylan and Jenna, who acted like choosing between him and Austin was the hardest choice she’s ever made. Eventually, she did opt to go with Dylan, but then he felt like she was playing games. The whole thing was a mess, especially since in due time it ended with Jenna getting drunk and getting into a fight with CeeJai’ over some comments that were made back and forth … plus episodes worth of tension.

Did CeeJai’ provoke her in this moment? Absolutely, but Jenna really started things up with a series of offensive remarks over the course of several episodes. We’re surprised it didn’t happen sooner, and it’s remarkable that the two mostly just got a slap on the wrist over it so that they could continue to be in the same house together.

We’re slightly convinced now that Dylan was brought in mostly just so that he could troll Jenna a little bit, given that we don’t imagine at this point she’s a production favorite. As a character he’s rather useless, but we could say that about most of the people this season. Jenna and Sabrina had their song debut on the radio, and that’s the only real significant character development we have.

This is the problem with this season as a whole: We do like some people in this cast, but we’re not invested in their stories. There’s nothing we get the sense that they are learning from this, and the show really isn’t working to show any struggle. We just get a few challenges here and there plus a ton of partying at bars. Episode Grade: C.
