‘Faking It’ series finale: Show boss on where Karma, Amy would have gone

This is clearly a busy time for TV shows and series finales. We just got done last night discussing the end of “Castle,” and on Tuesday night, we are ultimately going to end up getting the last hurrah for “Faking It” on MTV. The series had a fun run, but these sort of things do all come to an end at one point or another. The depressing thing is that this ending came much earlier than creator Carter Covington thought it would.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Covington made it clear that he did actually want to potentially explore the idea of Amy and Karma together before the series finale, but it was during the last season of the show when the two would have went on a long-enough journey:

“It’s always been my intention to explore Karma and Amy together … during the last season. [But] I’ve just never known when the last season would be. When we started breaking these episodes last summer, we still had a lot of hope that the show would live on past this season. I don’t get to explore that storyline, and fans who’ve been wanting it won’t get to see it, but I do think that the series ends now in a place where at least Karma and Amy as friends are in a solid, healthy place.”

Covington made it clear that most of the cliffhangers at the end of this episode were “happy” ones in some ways. While the team did not know the show was ending with tonight’s episode, they at least had an idea that it could be the last chapter and they wanted to at least offer up some hope and happiness in the event it was. Hopefully the story pays off in a way that makes most fans of the show happy.
