‘Bates Motel’ season 5: Premiere date speculation, more for final season
Tonight, “Bates Motel” closed the door on its fourth season, and it did so with one of the creepiest, craziest final episodes we’ve seen on this show. Did anyone else get the willies watching what Norman Bates did with his mother’s eyes? It’s pretty easy to.
So when is the fifth and final season going to start airing? It’s pretty easy to assume next spring, but hard to really pin down much in the way of a premiere date beyond that. We just hope that whenever the show comes back, it basically sets up the story of “Psycho” in the best way that it possibly can. We already figure that it is on its way and then some.
Also, the show really did a good job through most of this hour tonight showing up how Vera Farmiga can still be a part of the show. Even though she may be gone in one way, she clearly still exists to Norman. This manifestation of her will haunt him, though it could also be welcome to him in some ways.
In speaking on the structure of season 5 in an interview with TVLine, executive producer Carlton Cuse had the following to say:
“We wanted the final season to allow us to do our version of the Psycho lore. We will be colliding with certain events in the narrative of the film, but it would be boring to just recreate Psycho.”
Also, this piece does confirm that Farmiga will continue to be on the show in its final episodes.
