‘Mr. Robot’ season 2 trailer: Elliot’s new journey, Grace Gummer, and … President Obama?
The second season of “Mr. Robot” is going to be premiering on USA on July 13, and based on the first trailer below, we’re getting a good sense that this show could end up being every bit as magnificent this time around as it was during the first season.
For one, you’ve got the return of Rami Malek as Elliot … not that he was going anywhere. Malek’s performance anchored the entire first season in fantastic fashion, as we saw more and more that his point of view was not exactly something that could be relied on to tell a truthful narrative. We went inside his psychotic break, and learned more about just who Mr. Robot really is. We’re just glad that, all things considered, Christian Slater is still around on the show.
This trailer also gives you a first look at Grace Gummer, who is going to be a major character this season as a young FBI agent trying to make a little bit of sense of this world.
What about President Obama? We gotta give the show some credit for making it appear as though the Commander-in-Chief is actually talking about fsociety in this trailer, since it does give the show that further level of authenticity to see Elliot watching him on TV.
We know that expectations for this show are going to be super-high, especially when you remember just how fantastic it was during most of the first season. Yet, we do think that they will find a way to somehow match this quality and then some. There’s no reason to not have faith in it.
