‘Home Fires’ season 2 finale review: Did Nick and Teresa marry; what happened with Pat, Bob?
The fact that Sunday night marked the finale for “Home Fires” season 2 was in many ways appalling, when you consider all of the different storylines that the show had the burden of trying to resolve in an incredibly short period of time.
One of the more interesting facets of this episode was that typically with shows and finales, we tend to be rooting for the wedding to happen. Here, we found ourselves rooting against it since Teresa seemed so better suited for Annie than Nick, but she seemed afraid to admit it due to social pressures and everything else weighing upon her. When you consider the era in which the show is set, it’s really hard to argue as to why Teresa felt the need to do this. Fear is a powerful motivator, and there is already a lot of fear in this world.
The wedding with Nick and Teresa did happen, but the first surprise was Miriam being ready to give birth right in the middle of it.
Now, let’s talk Pat and Bob, otherwise known as one already-married couple who really needs to not be married anymore. Why? Bob is the worst; he’s controlling, his vile, and he’s terrifying. Need we go on? Well, Pat tried to do her best to take off and be with Marek during the wedding, and it was here when Bob revealed that he knew about her and Marek this whole time. She escaped, and then took off to find the man she loved. Unfortunately, he had already left before she got to him, and we were left with a cliffhanger like no other featuring a crashed plane right in the middle of the village.
While we’re still wondering what’s next for Teresa after the finale, let alone Frances after everything with the factory, one thing we know for sure is this: What an extraordinary way to end season 2. Grade: A-.

The ending left a lot to be desired. For a series that was originally touted as a possible replacement for Downton Abbey, they never did it justice. I did like the series, but felt there were story lines that could have gone on for at least another year and/or give us a suitable ending. I still haven’t been able to figure out exactly what did happen in those final moments.

I had high hopes for this series, but it ended up really disappointing me. It turned into nothing more than a soap opera.

Oh no. Whose baby was crying? Whose house did that plane crash into. And for goodness sake please please kill off Bob and let him die a horrible death. I actually have to FF’ed through parts with him because I find it upsetting how awful he is to Pat. Also I want to smack her for staying with him.
