‘Home Fires’ season 2, episode 6 (finale) preview: What could Bob do to Pat?
“Home Fires” is a show full of people we like and want to root for … and then there’s Bob. This man may be one of the most detested out of anyone that we’ve had a chance to see in British television, and there is a good reason for it. Just look at the wide array of things that he has done to people over the course of the show’s run, especially to Pat. He’s devious, he’s terrifying, and with Pat growing closer to Marek, nobody really knows (at least from the viewer angle) precisely what he is going to do.
For the time being, the man behind the role is also keeping things a mystery. In setting up the finale this weekend in a new interview with What’s On TV, Mark Bazeley had the following to say:
“You don’t know whether Bob’s got some really odd plan. Is he going to kill her? Or will he tell Pat (Claire Rushbrook) he’s sorry he’s been so bad and can change? There are so many shades to this marriage and they’re all going to play out…”
At the moment, we just have to prepare for the worst for this character, mostly because he hasn’t really given us enough evidence that he can possibly be redeemed. You would want to think that his injuries in war would give him perspective, but who knows if that will be the case.
Ultimately, stay tuned tomorrow for some other news on the finale — including a full review of all that happens. Update: Read that review here, or check out our article about a potential third series.
