‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ season 7 wishlist: Cast changes, different drama, and more

Now that “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” season 6 is effectively done, we do think that the timing is right here for us to finally start to look ahead to the future.

For the sake of this article, we’re going to go ahead and assume that the show is coming back for a seventh season. After all, why wouldn’t it? This is a show that is a huge part of Bravo’s franchise, and there are so many wealthy people within this town that they can choose from. They don’t have to keep the current cast, and that’s probably a great thing given the mess of things at present. Let’s move ahead to our wishlist.

1. Cast changes – First things first, we’d get rid of Kathryn Edwards, who added almost nothing other than providing close to a second season for “The People v. OJ Simpson.” Then, we’d get rid of Lisa Rinna, who seemed at times to be almost overdramatic. (Yolanda Hadid leaves the stage = her leaving the stage minutes later.)

Now, do you replace original cast members like Lisa Vanderpump and Kyle Richards? We don’t think that you have to, but you do need to reemphasize with them what viewers want to see (crazy opulence and funny drama) as opposed to what we had this season. Bring in people who are in the vein of Erika Girardi, who can be super-entertaining and have a crazy rich-and-famous lifestyle.

2. Shorter reunions – Heck, a shorter season would be fine. If you don’t have enough content for more than 20 episodes a year, why are we getting it? The biggest thing a show can learn is that less can be more.

3. A different focus – We don’t blame the cast entirely for the “Munchhausen” debacle. Clearly, producers were asking about it, and editors were putting it in. Bravo needs to realize that people are tired of hearing about people questioning Yolanda’s illness, so move on to other things. Empower her, and given the Housewives some more crazy parties or hobbies to partake in.

4. Crossovers! – With the “Orange County” cast so close by, we don’t know why the show doesn’t try to mix things up a little. Anything to make some of these episodes feel different.
