‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: Carice van Houten on that key resurrection

Melisandre -

For the most part, the majority of “Game of Thrones” fans got the events of this past episode right, at least in terms of Melisandre being the one to resurrect Jon Snow. However, what was a little bit of a different about this one, at least in comparison to audience expectations of it, was precisely how this said resurrection happened. We had a chance to see Jon wake up following some incantations, with the irony being that the Red Woman, in doubt of her own abilities, does not even know at present that the spell worked.

So what does Carice van Houten have to say about the experience of filming these scenes? Let’s just say that she provided a very different perspective to Entertainment Weekly:

“It took forever to resurrect him, forever! It was such an important scene, we shot it from so many angles. I think I washed his body 50 times. There would be a lot of people who would be very jealous, including my mother and sister. I was joking about that with him – ‘if only my mother could see this’ – and he loved that.”

It’s a little too early still to really guess as to where this story is going to go from here, but the hope is obviously that it will continue to be something new and exciting that will push Jon in some interesting directions. Given the way in which he died, we don’t know how you would say that he is anywhere close to being out of the woods. There could just be a group ready to stab him again repeatedly “for the watch.”
