‘Britain’s Got Talent’ review: Meet Jasmine Elcock, Ben Blaque (again), and Shannon & Peter
The fourth audition show for “Britain’s Got Talent” aired this weekend, and the show actually started off with a little bit of a twist when it comes to the judges: Simon Cowell was running late! Thanks to that, David Walliams’ mother stepped in. We’re not sure how much of a real judge she needed to be, since they mostly just presented her with rubbish and then one impressive act at the end.
As always, we’re going to have some further updates on the show as the night goes on.
Sam & Hector – These two were the kid acrobats who got the lone “yes” vote from David’s mum, and we understand why. We enjoyed the routine, but they do need a stronger production value moving into the next round.
Vox Fortis – They’re a very strong vocal group, even if they are very similar to Collabro and some others we have seen and heard over time. Still, with booming voices and such a professional look, we do feel fairly confident at present that they can go fairly far.
Spartans Resurrection – We really didn’t see that much of this performance, but based on what we have so far, it’s thoroughly entertaining. Also, it was gymnastic mixed with a little bit of a strength act; we always do love a good strength act.
Richard Bayton – Oh, he’s terrible. There is a reason that Simon gave him an X two years ago. Yet, the show does like to have that cannon fodder in the live shows who really has no business being there. In some ways, it’s more fun watching a total disaster than someone who is merely mediocre.
Shannon & Peter – Really beautiful. What we especially like about it is that this is not the sort of dance act we tend to see. They’re older performers for ballroom, but it wasn’t a gimmick. They sense of musicality was outstanding.
Ben Blaque – We know this guy from “America’s Got Talent,” and we know that he’s a phenomenal sharpshooter. It was not a surprise at all to see him come out and completely own the stage and hit all of the targets. We actually know he can do so much more than this.
Jasmine Elcock – Jasmine’s the sort of person who we will be hearing a lot more about this season. She is already seasoned on stage, super-talented, and basically had “Golden Buzzer” material written all over here the moment that we saw her introductory package. Meet Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer act! It was a worthy choice for them, and also interestingly the first time that they’ve given it to a singer.
