‘Empire’ season 2, episode 15 video: Hakeem creates a baby palace for Anika

Over the course of the past two episodes, “Empire” season 2 has really forwarded along the story of Anika’s pregnancy a great deal, and in that time, we’ve also had a chance to see Hakeem start to realize what this means for him and his future.

So is he ready to step up and actually be a good father? Based on the sneak peek below for Wednesday night’s new episode, the answer to that question appears to be “yes.” You can see him present Anika with what seems to be a baby palace, complete with an enormous teddy bear. (What is it with TV shows and giant teddy bears? We saw something similar recently with Raj on “The Big Bang Theory.”)

It certainly seems in here like Hakeem has the best of intentions for creating this space for Anika, as he wants to be in the child’s life. He also makes it clear that his fiancee needs to be on board, and he wants to make sure that he and Anika are on good terms in order for them to be parents.

Here’s the problem, and it’s something that Anika makes very clear: Lucious just threatened her life. Given everything that she has been through with this family, we definitely do understand there being a certain degree of hesitation over what she is being told here by Hakeem. He’s always going to be tied to Lucious, and that means that her life will almost always be crammed full of drama.

Who knows? Maybe her mind will change over the course of the episode. We like to think that anything is still possible.
