Kelly Ripa’s ‘Live!’ could be on the move if ‘Good Morning America’ expands
Michael Strahan’s departure may not be the only thing that is changing coming up in terms of the “Live! with Kelly” program.
While at the moment Ripa has been sitting out shows following the announcement of her co-star’s departure, we do expect her to return eventually. At some point, The Hollywood Reporter also claims that the show could be moved either to later in the morning or another timeslot in the afternoon in order to expand “Good Morning America.” It’s a move that would bring ABC more easy money without having to significantly amp up production costs, and it’s a move that “The Today Show” has certainly done an excellent job at exploiting over the years with their multiple hours.
If this move happens, don’t see it as any sign in the slightest that the network is giving up on the “Live!” franchise. Here is what one source had to say on that subject:
“We are committed to ‘Live…’, its fantastic production team, and to Kelly Ripa. We believe the show has a great future. End of story.”
It will be interesting to learn more about whether or not the “Live!” franchise undergoes any more changes, as well, once there is a new co-host potentially brought in. We haven’t gotten a good sense as of yet as to who that could be, but we’d probably have at this point Neil Patrick Harris at the top of the list, provided that he wants to do it. His demeanor is well-suited for a show like this, he’s already guest-hosted many times, and he is already residing in New York.
