‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Will Belle return this season?

At the end of this past episode of “Once Upon a Time,” we did firmly see Belle make a decision regarding the future of both her and her child. Rather than have to give the kid up courtesy of the contract between Rumpelstiltskin and now Hades, she put herself to sleep, knowing this would suspend the pregnancy until a time when things are a little more peaceful.

Will that happen this season, or at some point down the road? Given Emilie de Ravin’s real-life pregnancy, it is easy to assume that she would be on maternity leave for the remainder of the season. However, TVLine reports that you will have a chance to see Belle at some point during the two-hour finale airing on May 15. The circumstances are for now unclear, but this serves as a nice glimmer of hope that something more will come from the character.

We obviously do want to see Belle and Rumple figure out there differences so that they can be together, especially in a way where she can actually trust him once more. However, this is Rumple we’re talking about here! He’s really not a guy who has done a lot to earn our trust, so we may as well just expect the worst out of him and hope that something changes.

Hopefully, we’ll also continue to see the Belle story play out throughout the upcoming sixth season. Given that these two characters have been set up as endgame for one another, we don’t want to see anything derail that. (Forgive us for being on edge a little bit about ABC shows and character departures after the “Castle” headlines earlier this week.)
