Marvel’s ‘The Defenders’ will have ‘Daredevil’ showrunners aboard
While it may be some time still before Marvel and Netflix even start filming their great superhero team-up series entitled “The Defenders,” they are certainly already doing almost everything that they can in order to prepare.
Today, the streaming provider / comic company confirmed that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who were in charge of spearheading the second season of “Daredevil,” are now going to be the two main creative forces behind the upcoming show, which will feature Matt Murdock alongside Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. This is a project that the company has been building towards for years, and it was always the plan to put these characters together on their same show after they all had a little bit of time to shine on their own.
Drew Goddard is also joining the duo as an executive producer alongside Marvel’s TV boss Jeph Loeb, who said the following in a statement about getting everyone together for this big project:
“We’re incredibly excited to be able to bring our four street level heroes together in an epic tale woven by Doug and Marco whose work on Marvel’s Daredevil speaks for itself … They write and produce not only great action and adventure, but also the heart and touch of humor that’s makes us Marvel. With the inclusion of Drew Goddard, we’ve got a team that’s as formidable as the Defenders themselves.”
We don’t expect “The Defenders” to launch until 2017 at the earliest, given that “Iron Fist” still needs to premiere before it.
