‘The Real World: Go Big or Go Home’ episode 5 review: Will Chris tell Jenna the truth?
We gotta admit that for a good percentage of Thursday night’s new episode of “The Real World,” we were out on almost everything that the show was bringing to the table.
First, we had to watch a lengthy segment all about Jenna and spiders, which we really didn’t care for because A) we don’t like spiders and also B) Jenna is not particularly likable in her own right. We couldn’t even stand to watch most of it, but we suppose congrats to her for conquering her fear since we clearly haven’t conquered ours.
The big problem that the show had here structurally is that in ending the episode with the big reveal that Chris is the person who revealed her nasty comments online, it felt like we were probably supposed to feel for Jenna more than we did. Sure, he acted like a total snake in the way that he did it, and Jenna probably wouldn’t have said some of the things that she did in the event that he knew he’d be posting them. Then again, she was on a TV show, and had he not done that, her life would have been “ruined” by the show coming out. Her mistake if she wanted to preserve her future, was going on this show to begin with. Chris was offended, and it’s not like he made up much of what he was saying.
Still, nobody wants to admire someone for being a rat, and Chris didn’t really come off particularly great here either, though our heart broke for him hearing about some of his struggles in the church.
Do you really want to hear about anything else with this episode? Well, we could spend a minute or two talking about some other nonsense, which included seeing Dione realize that imitating a homeless person is not a good idea, and also watching petty arguments here and there in between these people livin’ it up and enjoying Sin City. “The Real World” is good entertainment, but with all the producer meddling this season, much of what made it organic is very much gone. Grade: C.

Chris Amom, his friend Hasim and MTV should get served a lawsuit for breach of contract, defamation of character and endangering the safety of Jenna, her family, her friends, her neighbors.
Jenna I know a good attorney!

I don’t agree with a lot of what Jenna says, but she seems ignorant, not mean. What Chris did behind her back was mean! How did he not get kicked off the show for breach of contract? I think Jenna and her family may have a legitimate lawsuit against MTV, Chris and Chris’s “helper” friend Hasim. What if Jenna and her family get harassed for being KKK members (which isn’t true)? There are a lot of people in America not playing with a full deck, what if someone gets violent with them, because of what Chris wrote?
I wouldn’t ever trust Chris! Chris Ammom is a slimy, sneaky, deceptive, manipulative cockroach!

The real issue Chris has is with the Mormon Church and things that happened to him in his past. He is using Jenna as his scapegoat to vent that anger. Chris talks out both sides of his a** because on one hand he preaches tolerance and is all about educating people. Well, Jenna is someone who can stand to have her eyes opened and he has missed the boat to educate and enlighten her. She is not a bad person, she is someone who has always lived in one environment and is just not as socially mature as someone her age should be. I liked Chris when he was supporting her but he turned on her so quickly, what kind of a friend does that? Friends should be able to talk about anything and respect each other right or wrong. Chris needs some serious therapy to deal with “his” issues and Jenna needs a good friend to help her grow and see there is a different world than what she knows. I think she would be open to that education. He needs to stop finding her guilty without the benefit of a trial. Good grief Chris, you want tolerance for your chosen life style but you show her no tolerance for being naive.
