‘The Voice UK’ season 6: What we know about ITV move, coaches
Well, this past season of “The Voice UK” is officially in the books, and we now know that Kevin Simm really was the favorite of the British public. Not only that, but Ricky Wilson has become the first coach on this country’s version of the show to have a pair of singers make it to the final two.
Of course, the irony now is that it is not even confirmed at present if Ricky will be back for another batch of episodes moving forward, given that the show is moving to ITV, and the future of the entire panel is surrounded by question marks. We know that there is probably interest in keeping will.i.am around, being that he is the only coach to have been there since the beginning, and he also has a very distinct energy and personality that he brings to the table.
As for the rest, we’d be fine if there are changes. Ricky has become more entertaining over time, but we wouldn’t fault him if he wanted to go back to strictly performing for a while. Meanwhile, something has to be done about the Paloma Faith – Boy George relationship, since it really felt awkward ever since the two traded insults during the Blind Auditions when they got a tad too serious in their pitches. We miss the other three original coaches in Sir Tom Jones, Danny O’Donoghue, and Jessie J, but we have a hard time envisioning that they will come back, even if they were entertaining and dynamic.
We don’t assume ITV will change much when it comes to the premiere date. The show worked well in the winter on BBC One, and we’re sure the new network won’t want it airing against “Britain’s Got Talent” or “The X Factor.” This is the right place to put it.
