‘Doctor Who’ spin-off ‘Class’ casts ‘Happy Valley,’ ‘Night Manager’ alum
For everyone who has been eager on any news regarding “Doctor Who” as of late, will some scoop on the upcoming spin-off “Class” suffice? We certainly hope so.
Today, it was announced that Katherine Kelly is going to be playing a teacher in the BBC Three series, which is slated to come out later this year. (Think of it as a nice appetizer for “Doctor Who,” which will be off the air presumably until the next Christmas Special.) The photo above is your first look at the cast, which could also double for an Adidas commercial.
In a statement, creator Patrick Ness had the following to say:
“How lucky we are to get Katherine Kelly! She’s been stunning in Happy Valley, The Night Manager and Mr Selfridge, just wait until you see her here.”
Meanwhile, here is what current “Doctor Who” showrunner Steven Moffat said on the subject:
“There’s nothing more exciting than meeting stars that nobody’s heard of yet. We had the read-through of the first few episodes last week, and there was a whole row of them.
“Coal Hill School has been part of Doctor Who since the very first shoot in 1963, but this new show is anything but history. Class is dark and sexy and right now. I’ve always wondered if there could be a British Buffy – it’s taken the brilliant Patrick Ness to figure out how to make it happen.”
We’re certainly curious to see what this spin-off could bring to the table, mostly because it’s a chance for another creative voice in the universe, and it could be a nice source of humor.
