‘American Idol’ series finale: Simon Cowell unsure if he will appear
While at a NBCUniversal event this week to promote the premiere of “America’s Got Talent” coming on NBC this summer, the music mogul made it clear that there was a “date issue” that could keep him from joining some of the other former judges who could make an appearance at the finale. Somehow, we still think that he will figure it out. We don’t want to entirely credit the Fox show’s success to Cowell, who was a judge for the first nine seasons, but we would say that he was key in helping to change the reality TV format. He made people realize that harsh criticism is sometimes the best criticism, and his chemistry with Paula Abdul managed to be insanely fun throughout the time in which they were on the show together.
Ultimately, it’d just be a shame if someone who was so important to the success of this show for so many years ended up not turning up for the big finale, and only because he was busy doing something else. If we were another show, we’d feel like it was important enough to work production around this occasion, since it’s not like there is going to be another “American Idol” finale coming up.
This big event will feature dozens of former stars, and is going to air on Fox come Thursday night.
