‘Blue Bloods,’ ‘NCIS: Los Angeles,’ ‘Amazing Race,’ more renewed by CBS
Friday is clearly a big day if you are a CBS viewer, since the network decided today to order many more seasons of some of your favorite shows.
Among the scripted hits that are officially coming back we have: “2 Broke Girls,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Madam Secretary,”, Blue Bloods”, “Elementary”, “Mom,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “NCIS: New Orleans,” and “Scorpion,” while on the unscripted front both “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race” are also coming back for more.
As a whole, we really should not be too surprised about any of the decisions that the network made here, especially since the network owns many of these shows, and they also happen to generate very solid ratings for them in the process. However, we are shocked to see a few of these shows get a renewal so early, with “Elementary” topping the list given how much of this season it has spent below the 1.0 mark in the 18-49 demographic. Clearly, there is something that they are seeing in their DVR numbers or something else that is inspiring the network to make such a move.
As for the reality shows, maybe we’re a tiny bit surprised to see “The Amazing Race” be renewed so soon for another go, but at the same time we gotta admit to being thrilled about it. Despite all of the various issues that we have had with the concept over time, it remains one of our favorite programs on the year. It’s still entertaining, and there’s really not too much out there like it from a competition point of view.
