Prepare for ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ season 3 early; season 2 arriving on Netflix this April
Clearly, ABC really wants to ensure that as many people as people as possible have a chance to catch up on “How to Get Away with Murder” prior to the impending premiere of season 3 in the fall. How else do you explain their latest move on Netflix?
According to the streaming service’s announced dates for the month of April, the entire 15-episode second season will be available come April 16, which means that you’re probably going to have more than five months to either catch up or rewatch the show. ABC has formed a rather special habit of giving up some of their episodes to Netflix earlier than some other networks, with the reasoning seemingly being that this offers up an opportunity for them to get more viewers. We do wish that some other networks would at least consider this strategic in their own way.
As for why the network is waiting a month rather than just putting the show on Netflix right away, we figure that is a byproduct of them wanting to capitalize on at least 30 days of DVR viewing and streaming through their own platforms, given that these are all things that can be measured and monetized for them before the show gets shipped elsewhere. Sure, Netflix does license the show for a fee, but we’re not sure if that measures up to ad dollars.
We’ll have more news related to season 3 of the show as time passes; be on the lookout for some of it!
