‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: The finale title is…

Before we do anything else, let’s start this particular “Once Upon a Time” story with some glorious news: We’re getting 23 episodes this season! This means that the Underworld arc will be a full installment longer than the first half of the season, and depending on how ABC chooses to air the episodes, it could mean an extra week of TV. (We state it this way because it is certainly possible that the network opts to air the finale as a big two-hour event.)

Now, let’s turn to the title for the upcoming season finale, as posted by co-creator Adam Horowitz on Twitter: “An Untold Story.”

What in the world does this title mean? While sometimes there are some pretty great clues in episode names, this one is so ambiguous that we can see it working to represent almost anything. How can you really know for sure what this is a tie to just on looking at it alone? It’s possible that we’re getting a story about new characters, something related to the past of a person we already know, or maybe just an epic showdown at the Underworld that talks about its creation.

The only thing that may be fairly safe to assume at the moment is that this is going to be a heck of an epic hour of TV, and given that the show has already been renewed for a sixth season, whatever happens here will likely set the stage for that.
