TV Madness: ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘The Blacklist’ square off in epic battle
We’ve now made it to the second round of our TV Madness show tournament, and we have to say first and foremost that the results of round one were interesting! The top-seeded show only won five out of the eight battles, and in one instance we had a #1 seed losing to a #8. That’s something we will be getting more into in a couple of days when we showcase the next battle.
Today, though, we’re talking “Game of Thrones” versus “The Blacklist,” an interesting showdown between an Emmy winner and a favorite here at the site. As shown in the graphic above, voting for round two will continue until March 15 at noon Pacific time.
“Game of Thrones” (1) – In the wake of the new trailer that was released for the season earlier this week, there is certainly a whole lot of hype that is out there! Season 6 will feature many characters in new places, material beyond the George R.R. Martin books, and of course the whole Jon Snow question that nobody has a definite answer to at the moment. What we do know for certain right now is this: It’ll generate huge ratings.
The path for the show to get here was relatively easy, as it was able to steamroll past “Hell on Wheels” in the first round.
“The Blacklist” (5) – We wouldn’t say that this was an upset victory for the James Spader – Megan Boone series over “The Flash,” mostly just because of how evenly-matched the two were and you’d rarely consider a #5 seed beating a #4 to be some sort of huge surprise. What was interesting to us is that it only won with less than 1% of the vote, and we still think it has a shot here.
Of course, since we last wrote about the series here fans are still on pins and needles to see what happens in the big wedding episode coming on April 7. (Yes, that is still a long ways away.)
