‘Suits’ season 6 spoilers: Will there be a time jump?
Given the events of the season 5 finale of “Suits,” there is one assumption that is fairly easy to make at the moment: The show is never going to be the same. In a sensational bit of storytelling, creator Aaron Korsh decided that it would be a more daring move to actually have Mike Ross go to prison for his crime. It just so turns out that Anita Gibbs got what she wanted all along, and in an effort to save him, Harvey ended up gutting almost the entire firm.
Here’s what comes as a surprise to us: The show is not going to just do the thing, at least at first, where they just jump forward following Mike’s two years in prison to see where the characters are now. As a matter of fact, here is what Korsh specifically had the same on the subject of the future in an interview with TVLine:
“As a matter of fact, we actually pick up that very night, and the entire episode, as it currently stands, takes place that night. It’s sort of a back and forth between Mike’s first night in prison and our first night dealing with coming back to an empty firm.”
We would assume that there would be a time jump eventually, just because the next two seasons would be spent otherwise with Mike behind bars unless the characters find some sort of new way to get him out of it. We’ve heard all sorts of theories for where the show could go from here, including that Mike could get some sort of education on being a real lawyer behind bars. We’d almost prefer, though, that he do the work when he gets out, and really have to fight hard to get back what he lost.
Ultimately, we imagine more answers will be coming our way this summer!
