‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3 spoilers: The Grant Ward – Hive confirmation you’ve been looking for
There is no longer any need to speculate on the alter ego of a certain “Agents of SHIELD” character named Grant Ward. After all, we now know officially that he is actually the Marvel villain by the name of Hive in his current, alien-possessed form.
The photo at the bottom of this article of Brett Dalton was first posted by Nerdist, and this is quite the physical transformation for this character. Hive is a villain who has ties to the Secret Warriors, which makes some sense that the show would now utilize him given that this Inhuman group is at present a significant part of the story.
In speaking about this further to the aforementioned site, executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen had the following to say:
“[This version of Hive] is going to have its own unique twist and be very different from what fans have seen so far. We will see similarities that pay homage to the original character, but fans will see that Hive is taking an exciting new direction in the world of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.IE.L.D.”
Ultimately, this is going to be very interesting. Dalton has had a thrilling opportunity getting to play so many different permutations of the same character since the very beginning of the series. How much of Grant Ward is really left in Hive remains to be seen, since Coulson effectively killed the version of Ward that we’ve come to know in the midseason finale. This should be interesting…
