‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12, episode 11: Sarah Drew on April, Jackson surprise

What's next? -

Tonight’s episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” is probably one for the ages. After all, this was one that finally lifted the veil on where April and Jackson are in their lives, and also where they could be going in the future.

Here’s what we know at the moment: She and Jackson are no longer married, and yet at the same time, there may be something more to their story. She is pregnant, and while we don’t know whether or not this child will come to term, it’s something that could shake things up in a big way. In discussing both the divorce and the pregnancy in a postmortem to TVLine, Sarah Drew had the following message to pass along:

“They were both pretty big shockers for me. I kind of thought, walking into the episode, that it was going to start with us about to sign the papers, and then the flashbacks were going to make [everyone see] that we were meant to be together, and then it would [conclude with] a happy ending. So, the first jaw-drop was, “What?! We’re actually signing these papers?” But then the next jaw-drop was the pregnancy, which made me go, “OK, well, there’s some hope [for Jackson and April] now. I see hope in this new life. All is not lost.”

Will this storyline end up delivering in terms of everything we want? That’s hard to say, mostly because there is such a distinct parallel at the moment between what we want on “Grey’s Anatomy” and what we often get. Divorce is a rather common thing in this world.
