‘Teen Wolf’ season 5, episode 18 video: See Crystal Reed as Marie-Jeanne

Tuesday night’s all-new episode of “Teen Wolf” is entitled “The Maid of Gevaudan,” and we’re rather thrilled now to know that we don’t have to wait any longer to see who this said Maid is. Like many people out there guessed, it is none other than Crystal Reed inhabiting this character, otherwise known as Marie-Jeanne.

Why bring Reed back for this role? Our feeling is that this was an inventive way to tie into some of the show’s history while also discussing the history of the Beast of Gevaudan, the Big Bad who is currently tormenting much of Beacon Hills. Reed hasn’t been seen since the death of Allison Argent, and Marie-Jeanne apparently is some sort of long-ago descendant. This is far from the first time that a series has used the same actor to play a character from the past, but for the most part we have no problem with this and even like it when shows opt to be this daring.

The only unfortunate thing about this sneak peek is that if you’re looking for something even remotely more substantial when it comes to content, you’re probably going to be somewhat disappointed. There is no real scene here just as much as there is a reveal that Reed is still on the show. Maybe this is a surprise to people who haven’t been reading news stories, but for everyone else, they likely saw this coming.
