‘The Flash’ season 2, episode 10 spoilers: The secrets of The Turtle

Sometimes, it is hard doing a midseason premiere of a show like “The Flash.” So much of its excitement is based mostly on momentum, so that by the time finales roll around for some of its episodes, they are among the most exciting things that you’ve had a chance to see.

Ultimately, though, there are some signs that this season’s midseason premiere may actually be as fun as exciting as last year’s “Out of Time,” otherwise known as one of the few other premieres of this variety to buck that trend. In speaking about the arrival of The Turtle to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg suggests that this is actually someone who has been tracked for some time, but offscreen where viewers didn’t get a chance to see it:

“In a surprisingly funny twist, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) has actually been hunting The Turtle the entire series. To Barry’s surprise, everybody knows about Cisco’s hunt for the Great White Whale, which is The Turtle; he’s the only one who didn’t know about it. We love the idea that there was a villain out there that they knew about, but they just haven’t bothered to tell the audience about yet. All Barry wants to do is get faster, because if he can get faster, he can take on Zoom. He’s going up against a villain who is literally slowing him down. This is one of our best episodes coming back that we’ve ever done. It feels big and emotional.”

Beyond the Turtle, there are two other key components to this episode: Whether or not Barry will finally admit to Patty Spivot that he is actually The Flash, and also how Wally West is going to fit into the universe now that it is clear that he is not going anywhere.
