‘Jessica Jones’ renewed by Netflix for season 2, with a catch

There’s some great news coming out there right now for everyone who has been interested in getting more of “Jessica Jones”: Netflix has officially confirmed that a second season is on the way! The unfortunate bit of news here is that you could be waiting a good while to get it.

As Netflix head Ted Sarandos said (per TVLine) at the TCA Winter Press Tour, the Krysten Ritter series is likely not going to get a chance to tell any further stories until after “The Defenders” films and then airs at some point down the road:

“The complex [part] is really running into The Defenders. [That] production schedule will affect a lot of the Season 2 and Season 3 outputs [for other Marvel projects].”

What we know about all of this is that Marvel’s “Luke Cage” will be premiering later this year, with our feeling being that “Iron Fist” is going to be coming up at some point in either late 2016 or early 2017. “The Defenders” could be a late 2017 project depending on when “Iron Fist” finishes filming its first season. We feel like whoever is cast for that role is going to have to jump fairly quickly from the end of it into the team-up series. After that, we’ll probably get a third season of “Daredevil” and the second season of “Jessica Jones.” (A “Daredevil” renewal has not been confirmed, but we’re just assuming based on the overall success of the show and everything that we have seen so far.) Is it possible that “Jessica Jones” season 2 does come before “The Defenders”? Certainly, but Sarandos’ comment certainly does not give us a whole lot of hope.

Excited about getting some more “Jessica Jones” in your life? Let us know right now in the comments.
