ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5 video: Winter promo brings together the Gladiators

Remember the Olivia Pope you loved on “Scandal“? You know, the woman who fixed problems aplenty and worked with a team of Gladiators? Well, you’ll be pleased to know that for the ABC series’ winter premiere on January 11, this woman is going to be back in action.

The new promo below (first posted by E! News) features Kerry Washington’s character minus the white hat, but with an imposing red coat. Meanwhile, Huck, Quinn, and Marcus are there with her, ready to kick some butt (at least metaphorically). What we really dig about this is that it is able to give us a super-imposing vibe without actually showing any dangerous weapons or turning these characters into something they are not. Yes, Huck and Quinn do have a history of violence, but for the most part Gladiators prevail with their minds and their ability to manipulate a situation to suit their needs.

Do we think that Fitz will have a huge role on the show still moving forward this season? Without a doubt, but it’s going to take a little bit of time. There is a time jump coming, and in the wake of Olivia’s abortion and so much of the relationship playing out in the press, it’s hard to necessarily say where we are going to go from here as we inch our way towards an inevitable season finale stuffed full of drama.

The one thing that we do hope more than anything else is that Ms. Pope stays single for some time; there’s been enough relationship drama as of late.
