New Year’s Resolutions: Goals for ‘Amazing Race,’ ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ ‘Ink Master,’ other reality shows
Over the next few days, we’re going to be looking ahead at some of the great things that 2016 can bring. This is a time for new opportunities, new hopes, and hopefully, some of your favorite shows to set some new goals for how they can do better in the new year. With that in mind, we’d figure that we would do our part to help nudge them in the right direction a little bit with some suggested resolutions!
Today, we’re focusing on reality TV; come back over the next two days to see what we’ve got to say about comedies and dramas.
“The Amazing Race” – Try to be at least a little less heavy-handed on the editing. We were able to figure out about three or four episodes into this past season that Kelsey & Joey were the winners. Also, how about visiting places like Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Guatemala, or Iceland, who have either never been visited or have only turned up once?
“Dancing with the Stars” – Try to have a cast that contains at least 80% people we have heard of before.
“So You Think You Can Dance” – Just come back. That’s all we ask.
“Big Brother” – Can we either ask for an All-Stars or a season with at least a few returning houseguests? It’s been long enough.
“Survivor” – For season 32 to be strong enough to withstand numerous medical issues, which could in turn make this season one giant emergency room.
“Ink Master” – For the upcoming season (featuring returning players) to remain about the tattoos, and not who wants the most airtime by shouting at the other people.
“Shark Tank” – Give us more Daymond John and Barbara Corcoran! We’ve never loved rotating these two out in the way that the show does.
“The Bachelor” – Try to go at least two or three episodes without presenting a censor bar.
“Bachelor in Paradise” – Change the format so that there’s no a billion people at the end. We’re prefer a smaller cast of people, since the relationships that tend to stick together are the ones who have significant time to get to know each other.
“Top Chef” – Really, don’t change anything. You’re amazing as you are.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” – More Kim Fields! Less of everyone else.
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” – Please try to get interesting.
“The Voice” – Get rid of the battle rounds, and while you’re at it, how about making the love rounds constructed in a way that doesn’t so clearly cater to the pre-show favorite?
“American Idol” – At least try to keep it about the contestants in the midst of all the final season hype.
