‘Homeland’ season 6: Premiere date speculation; plus, should this be final season?
Sunday night marks the end of the road for “Homeland” season 5, but as many devoted fans likely know already, this is not the end of the road for the series as a whole. Showtime has already renewed the series for a sixth season premiering in the fall, but it is far too early to start discussing specific dates just yet.
What we can say right now in terms of the timeline is that more than likely, the series is going to start filming in the late spring / early summer, which is what it has been keen to do now for many years. The more intriguing question at the moment may just be where the series decides to film, given that they have been everywhere from America to South Africa to Germany in the past few years filming new episodes. Given that we could have another lengthy time jump, the show really could go anywhere!
Now, let’s turn to another important question: Are we nearing the end of the road for this series? Six seasons is a long time for any show to be on the air, and they also get much more expensive as time goes on. We’d probably be a little more worried about “Homeland” were in not for a few things:
1. A small cast – Other than Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin, and Rupert Friend (whose future is in debate thanks to the Quinn storyline), is anyone really essential to the series? A smaller cast means fewer people you have to pay the big bucks to.
2. Quality – The show is still great. Not only that, but it’s still relevant! That always makes for a good sign of things to come.
