‘Doctor Who’ season 10: Peter Capaldi’s humorous take on new Companion

Doctor WhoWho will be the next Companion on “Doctor Who“? It’s a question that many want an answer to at the moment, but one that you probably will not know until following the upcoming Christmas Special. When you think about the timing of it all, there is really not much of an incentive for the show to announce things early. Sometimes, it is in the best interest of all parties involved to just have everyone waiting for a while.

One thing that we do know at the moment thanks to star Peter Capaldi is that he wants to do his fair share of action sequences still. Speaking to the Radio Times, he made the following tongue-in-cheek statement regarding why he hopes that the next Companion is female:

“With the best will in the world, I don’t want a bloke, because I’m frightened that they’ll give him all the action and I’ll be standing around spouting scientific gobbledygook… ‘Oh, Peter’s not up to chasing those Zygons down the corridor, let the chap do it.’ And that would be awful. I want to chase the Zygons!”

Take this as a further bit of evidence that one of Capaldi’s favorite parts of this job is running around and doing some of the more-intense stuff. and we’re sure that this is not going to change no matter who they hire. We know that executive producer Steven Moffat has some ideas; more than anything else, our hope is just that they find someone who is extremely different in almost every way from Clara. It’s best to mix things up.
