‘Major Crimes’ season 4, episode 18 (winter finale) preview: Rise of a new villain
The fourth season of “Major Crimes” will be going on hiatus following Monday night’s new episode “Penalty Phase,” but it certainly does not look as though the show is planning to sign off with a whimper and we wouldn’t expect anything less with this show.
The promo below sets up some of the shockers that you can expect to see over the course of this episode, beginning with one of the most horrific new villains we’ve seen the team face in recent memory: A killer who is basically making his own movie, with the difference being that he is actually killing his victims.
The synopsis for the episode teases that there could be a new romance surfacing in this episode as well, but there’s nothing in the promo that offers up any hints one way or another as to who could be involved in that. Could it be Rusty and Gus? That’s a decent guess based on the events of this past episode. However, no guarantees here, this is just our humble thoughts.
One other thing to look at in this episode is whether or not there are any hints that could lead us to think about the story for the upcoming five-episode arc being told in the new year. This is going to be a new, daring direction for the show to go in, and we’re very much interested at the moment in seeing how all of that unfolds.
Of course, we’re going to have so many more updates after the episode airs Monday about what to expect both past and present, so be on the lookout!

I hope Rusty will be sent off to college
I’m tired of half the show being about him.

Seriously, Mondays are going to suck again until February! TNT better start coughing up more than 13 episodes for season 5!
I also wonder if it is Sharon and Andy finally telling each other they love each other. Remember that the letter is still out there. Plus, the tease is that a new relationship takes wing. To me that says it is an established one that takes off or moves to the next level. In real time, they have been “together” since July so it would be considered a new relationship.
In last week’s “summary”, James Duff explained why he was holding off with a relationship for Rusty and seemed really unapologetic. He has said we will see him out with someone in season 5 though.
