‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3: Brett Dalton on Word as ‘agent of change’

Ward -The third season of “Agents of SHIELD” ended the first half of the season with a surprise like no other: The “death” of Grant Ward. Of course, we learned minutes after Coulson killed him that he was not really gone from the world. Instead, he is born as a vessel for the Beast, the creature from the alien world who could stir up all sorts of trouble in the second half of the season.

While we can assume that this character will be a problem for SHIELD in the upcoming episodes (starting potentially in the winter premiere on March 8), who’s to say just how he will impact the team? For now Brett Dalton is not saying, but he did tell IGN in a new interview that more than anything, he’s just grateful for the chance to keep stirring things up on the show:

“I think the cool thing is whenever I am on screen, it seems like the stuff that they give me really shakes stuff up, so he’s a huge agent of change and has been since he returned. It’s really cool to be that big of a thorn in SHIELD’s side. So yeah, I don’t know if that means I’m going to be more central to the story after the break, but regardless I always see it as [laughs] I think I’m in a TV show called “Agents of Ward,” and I play it like that.”

Do we think that Ward makes it through the second part of the season? It’s hard to say. The character is beloved, but at the same time he is always in a state of flux.
