‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 10 preview: Amy reaches out to Dave

While Amy Farrah Fowler may be brilliant at what she does professionally, part of what makes her character so likable on “The Big Bang Theory” is that she is someone who is so easy to relate to. Like so many others out there in the world, at her core she really just wants to be loved and find the right person who will be there for her.

Could this person really be none other than Dave? We first met Stephen Merchant as this character earlier in the season, and we get a chance to see him once more in the sneak peek below. Dave is a rather interesting fellow, mostly in that he is a Sheldon-obsessed, British version of Stuart who Amy is at least interested in going out with. After Sheldon said in the last new episode of the show that he didn’t want to get his heart broken by her again, she reaches out to Dave to see if he wants to give their relationship another chance. As it turns out, he does not have a whole lot going on. (Given what we know about this character, no surprise there.)

Based on what we’ve seen in promos and promotional materials for the show over time, it appears as though Sheldon and Amy will be getting back together in time. If nothing else, this is just another way to facilitate that happening. Seeing Amy with someone else given everything that he has been through could be a way to galvanize him to give the relationship a shot once more.
