‘Shark Tank’ preview: GeekMyTree, LovePop, Beard Head, PiperWai, Bombas, and more
Friday night marks the final episode of “Shark Tank” for the year, and that really means one thing more than anything else: We’re getting a generous helping of holiday products! To better ring in the season there are going to be three products that are relevant to either the holiday season or winter … and then there’s deodorant. That one’s a little random.
As with all other episode previews, we begin by sharing the synopsis below:
“A Christmas-decorating aficionado from Grand Haven, Michigan has a high-tech way to deck the halls with his animated glow balls and synchronized musical trees; a Los Angeles entrepreneur has whimsical knit hats, complete with detachable facemask, transforming wearers into santas, vikings, trolls and other characters; two Harvard grads from Boston, Massachusetts have a line of ornate, pop-up greeting cards for all occasions; and two women from Philadelphia, PA demonstrate their all-natural deodorant made from activated charcoal. Plus, Daymond John gives a workshop to the principals of four of his companies – Bombas Socks, Sunstaches, Myself Belts and Cozy Bugs – and brings out chef Rocco DiSpirito to provide some delicious inspiration.”
Now, let’s get to our take on some of these.
GeekMyTree – For those of you who want to obsessively stare at Christmas lights (or those of you who want to freak out your cat), this is for you! In all seriousness, these animated tree decorations are pretty cool, and we like the name and the website a lot. Seasonal products are a touch sell, but we could see this making money.
LovePop – Cute pop-up greeting cards. There’s nothing altogether innovative above this brand (we’ve seen similar sort of cards before in terms of technology), but we like their look. Also, it’s the sort of thing that can be sold year-round, even if they are probably coming onto the show with a holiday angle.
Beard Head – It’s nonsense, but yet kinda fun nonsense! It’s a ski cap that also comes with a “beard” component. You get to show off a very particular hook of Viking / beatnik person / Santa Claus, while at the same time staying warm. This reminds us somewhat of Tipsy Elves, something that not everyone probably needs, but something that is so fun people will probably really want it.
PiperWai – Natural deodorant. Like we said, we have no clue why it was stuck in this episode. It’s an interesting idea in this all-natural movement to look at things that we apply to our skin, and deodorant is one that’s often forgotten about. Yet, is it flashy enough to make a deal, and are people going to be willing to spend $12 for something when they are used to paying a fraction of that? We’re not quite sure.
