‘Bones’ season 11: David Boreanaz thanks fans after tumultuous week of show headlines
Maybe Fox decided that with the NFL and NBC’s live production of “The Wiz” coming on the air Thursday night, they’d be better off sitting this one out and pushing their programming, including two all-new episodes of “Bones” constituting the fall finale, one more week.
In some ways, it may also be a happy coincident that the show is waiting now, based on some of the other news that has come out about a lawsuit filed by produces (and later stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel) over what they claim are unpaid profits from studio 20th Century Fox. This is something that you can read more about here, but the timing of this does lead to questions as to whether or not it could impact the show’s future.
One thing that Boreanaz in particular has worked hard to do over the past couple of days is to ensure fans know that they are appreciated for everything that they have done to support the show, and that nothing that is happening has anything to do with them. He’s retweeted many encouraging messages, and he also posted the tweet at the bottom of this article.
Ultimately, we don’t see the future of the show really being about a lawsuit at all; instead, it’s more about what it has always been about in ratings. If the series starts to prove its mettle in the 18-49 demographic later this spring, we feel fairly confident that it will be renewed. If it does not, then there is at least a reasonably good chance that we could see it concluding, hopefully with some sort of advance warning to craft the proper ending.
