Ratings: ‘The Amazing Race 27,’ ‘MasterChef Junior’ down slightly on Black friday (11/27/2015)
There’s really not too much of an introduction necessarily in setting up one of the slowest nights of the year insofar as ratings go: Black Friday is always a wasteland, and to go along with that, there’s almost nobody around to watch TV. In many ways, we’d argue that the night is even worse than Thanksgiving given that at least for the holiday, people are home and spending time with their families. There’s really nothing at all going on here.
The winners – You, provided that you got a good deal yesterday. That’s really all we got for today.
The losers – CBS shouldn’t be sobbing themselves to sleep for getting a 1.0 rating in the 19-49 demographic for their latest episode of “The Amazing Race.” The decline versus the week before is fractional, and they already ordered another season featuring internet celebrities. We almost think the network is running this show now almost as a testing ground to see how some of their series fare with new twists or people who in theory should be bringing a lot of traffic to the series via social media.
Meanwhile, “MasterChef Junior” had a much harder fall, sliding down to a 0.9 rating. That’s pretty bad, but at the same time Fox knows that this show is dirt-cheap to make beyond paying the judges and the crew. Also, it’s the sort of thing that you can plug in anywhere and will do okay. Don’t take the show going below a 1.0 as a sign that the end of its run is upon us.
