‘American Idol’ season 15 promo features dud auditions … and Kanye West?

The fifteenth season of “American Idol” is coming in January, and for their latest promo Fox seems to be hyping up some of the stranger things that we’ve seen on the show over the years.

In the video below (first posted by Mjsbigblog), you can see such people as William Hung, Sanjaya, and some other extremely-bad contestants try out for the show. The irony is that Sanjaya wasn’t awful; he just wasn’t amazing in comparison to other contestants and it became a huge deal how far he made it in the competition.

Then, for some reason the show gives us for this season Kanye West! For those out there who are wondering, the cameo in here from Kanye really should not be thought of as much of a surprise for a number of different reasons … with the primary reason being that it was spoiled on social media a while ago. Maybe either Kanye or the producers thought that having him pretend to audition would be a funny idea. Anyway, it’s happening, so that is one more thing to look forward to this coming season.

Of course, we’re also hoping for some great talent! Isn’t that what this show was originally made for, after all? We’d like to see it wrap up its run with some sort of winner who could go on to be at least reasonably successful in the industry.

We imagine that we’ll have some more previews when it comes to “Idol” over the next month, not that we expect any of them to tell us why Kanye is there.
