Thanksgiving TV: Giving thanks to ‘The Amazing Race,’ ‘Survivor,’ ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and more
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! In honor of this joyous day, we’re back to continue what is the final day of our recurring series talking about some TV shows that we’re thankful for this time of year. We’ve done these articles already about dramas and comedies, but today, we’re talking about five reality series that have, at least for one reason or another, filled our heart with some gratitude.
The Amazing Race – For reminding itself that you can have a compelling season with normal people. Granted, they seemed to forget about that by casting a bunch of internet celebrities for the season in the spring, but we’re going to do our best here to live in the present and not think about that.
Dancing with the Stars -For continuing to find ways to make your contestants appealing. It’s funny how almost at the start of every season we complain about how this person or that person isn’t really famous, and yet by the time the ending rolls around we always end up feeling pretty darn satisfied. This season was helped especially by a few standouts, and hopefully this launches Bindi Irwin to a larger career.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta – For helping us to forget that we spent a good two months talking about Brooks Ayers and a alleged cancer diagnosis on the Orange County show. We’re pretty sure our brain has never been so fried in the history of reality television.
Survivor – For pretty much being awesome. Did you watch the two-hour episode on Wednesday night? If so, this should be a no-brainer! Massive congratulations have to be in order for making this season prove itself to be well worth the cost of admission and then some. We imagine that CBS is going to be figuring out a way to do this again as soon as humanly possible if it can produce results that are even remotely close to what we’re getting here.
The Voice – For giving us Jeffery Austin and Jordan Smith this season. Also, for Adam Levine’s bald head. We’re not sure if the rest of the season is thank outstanding, but we’ve at least got some entertainment interspersed here in between the tabloid stories about Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.
