Is ‘Fargo’ season 3 in development? There may be at least plans
FX is currently in the middle of its second season for “Fargo,” a show that once again has a very good chance of picking up lots of awards over the course of the next several weeks. While there was initially skepticism about the second season and even lukewarm reviews, since that time we’ve really seen nothing but momentum and further support behind the show. In an age where “American Horror Story” and “True Detective” have both aired somewhat-disappointing seasons, this is an example of the opposite: Quality that is shining through.
So is it really a surprise that there could be a third season? In a conference call today per SpoilerTV, actress Jean Smart proclaimed that show creator Noah Hawley is planning already another batch of episodes for the show … and it makes sense. While the ratings have been down this time, the quality is still there and the show performs very well in DVR measures. There is also still so much more from this world that can be explored.
Of course, the question we wonder is this: Do you try to go back to the present and bring back the original cast, or shift to a different region with a few cameos here and there? Do you make it another period piece? Given that you’re working in a setting that has a limited population, you would think that there could be some crossover.
We are still waiting technically for FX to issue an official renewal, but we think it is likely. The surprising end of “The Bastard Executioner” does not change that for us.
