NBC’s ‘The Voice’ results preview: Jeffrey Austin, Amy Vachal, Jordan Smith strong on iTunes

VoiceAt this point in time, you may as well prepare for the confetti to drop on Jordan Smith’s head: The guy is totally winning “The Voice.” Do we have any real issue with that? Probably not. He’s extremely talented, a good ambassador for the show, and seems to be a pretty nice, normal person who just wants to make a career doing what he loves. Also, we think right now that he is in the top tier of talent on the show.

Jordan’s cover of “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” is dominating iTunes at #1 as of this writing (results are from 11:30 a.m. Eastern time), which suggests to us that come a year or two everyone will be singing church songs in hopes of getting those sales. He’s not the only artist in the top ten, though; Amy Vachal’s choice of “Hotline Bling” paid off with a #6 ranking, while Jeffrey Austin scored a #9 placement with his sensational “Let It Go” (our favorite performance of the night).

These are three we’re confident will advance, and we’re feeling at least decent right now about Barrett Baber (#12) and Emily Ann Roberts (#21). Zach Seabaugh (#27) is probably also in good shape.

As for who we’re worried about, Braiden Sunshine was one of the lowest-ranked people, and we’d also be concerned about Mark Hood, Evan McKeel, and Korin Bukowski. Maybe there’s a crazy alternate-universe where Madi Davis could have trouble, but we doubt it. The sad thing for Pharrell is that other than Madi he doesn’t have much of a shot this season; meanwhile, Gwen has Jeffrey and currently no other contenders.

We’ll be back tonight with full results for “The Voice,” so stay tuned! Also, you can sign up here to get some other news on everything we cover, sent right over to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: NBC.)
