Ratings: ‘Reign’ season 3 surges for Francis shocker; ‘Blue Bloods,’ ‘Grimm’ fall (11/13/2015)
The ratings situation going into Friday night was for us a little bit of a mystery, mostly because of the fact that we had a hard time being able to tell whether or not the horrific violence in France was going to leave people preoccupied and not altogether interested in some of the escapism that television tends to provide.
With that being said, for the most part we actually feel like the ratings are somewhat normal on the night, with one major exception.
The winners – “Reign” clearly benefited from the advance promotion for “In a Clearing,” the episode to feature the death of the Francis character. The show drew a season-high 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic that is actually rather solid for a Friday; if the show continued to pull that, we actually think that the strong relationship between The CW and CBS Television Studios would help to ensure that it comes back for a fourth season.
Elsewhere, “Last Man Standing” (1.3) is the only show with any sort of improvement that is really worth writing home about.
The losers – “Grimm” (0.9) continues to sag, and we are at this point questioning whether or not this is going to be the end of the road for the show. At least with “Hawaii Five-0” (1.1) and “Blue Bloods” (1.2), the shows are generating a lot of total viewers for CBS. This show is not bringing that much to the table at the moment as far as ratings go.

We do not feel comfortable putting it in the “losers” category given the circumstances, but were a little surprised to see that both “20/20” (1.2) and “Dateline” (0.8) were down given that they were covering the attacks in France on the night.

Just about everyone I know has stopped watching Grimm so I’m not too surprised to hear it’s dropped.

I forgot about Blue Bloods last night. I was watching coverage of the attacks on Dateline.
